Banking & Financial Services

To open a bank account, go to the bank of your choice and tell a staff member that you would like to open an account.  Anyone who opens an account must present at least two pieces of identification:  a passport and work permit plus any other signed document such as a driver’s license.

Types of accounts, banking fees, and hours of operation may vary slightly from bank to bank.  Make sure you are informed of the fees when you set up an account. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are widely accepted credit cards in Canada.  Please note the difference between a credit card and a debit card.
